In 1968 he moved with his family to Turin.

From 1974 he attended the State Art High School “Renato Cottini”. Guided from Master Luigi Delleani, that transmits him the taste for classical painting, he learns the use of various techniques, in particular of the painting oil and veiling. He achieves the diploma of Artistic Maturity in 1978.

In the meantime he begins to attend the study of the elder siblings Luigi and Lucia. In this period of intense experimentation, he performs various studies and reproductions of classical works. It will then focus on the stylistic research of the great Flemish and Spanish painters of the seventeenth century, masters in the representation of “still life”, of which he appreciates and he shares the minute precision of sign and careful realistic execution of the details.

With the exhibition “DETAILS”, in 2006, at the San Giorgio Gallery in Portofino, Giorgio Rocca invites to discover his personal painting, in particular characterized from the somewhat rigorous description of compositions of remote and nostalgic memory, as can be seen in the paintings representing old tin toys, subjects already presented for the first time at the Melori & Rosenberg Gallery in Venice.

The same features found in wooden sailing boats or in the chrome of old American cars of the ‘50s: subjects to which it is strongly bounded, nearly to wanting to recover substantially a world that has passed but still, for him, very fascinating and significant.

Nel 1968 con la famiglia si trasferisce a Torino.

Dal 1974 frequenta il Liceo Artistico Statale “Renato Cottini”. Guidato dal Maestro Luigi Delleani, che gli trasmette il gusto per la pittura classica, apprende l’uso delle varie tecniche, in particolare della pittura ad olio e della velatura. Consegue il diploma di Maturità Artistica nel 1978.

Inizia a frequentare lo studio dei fratelli Luigi e Lucia. In questo periodo di intensa attività di sperimentazione, esegue vari studi e riproduzioni di opere classiche. Si soffermerà in seguito sulla ricerca stilistica dei grandi pittori fiamminghi e spagnoli del XVII secolo, maestri nella rappresentazione della “still life”, di cui apprezza e condivide la minuta precisione di segno e l’esecuzione realistica attenta ai dettagli.

Con la mostra “DETAILS”, del 2006, alla Galleria San Giorgio di Portofino Giorgio Rocca invita a scoprire la sua personale pittura, caratterizzata in particolare dalla descrizione alquanto rigorosa di motivi compositivi di remota e nostalgica memoria, come si può notare nei dipinti rappresentanti vecchi giocattoli di latta, soggetti già presentati per la prima volta alla Galleria Melori & Rosenberg di Venezia.

Gli stessi caratteri presenti nelle barche a vela in legno o nelle cromature delle vecchie automobili americane degli anni ’50: soggetti ai quali è fortemente legato, quasi a voler recuperare sostanzialmente un mondo ormai passato ma ancora, per lui, quanto mai affascinante e significativo.
